Key Fob Battery Replacement Guide
Most fobs use a CR2032 or CR2025 coin cell that lasts three to five years. Shorter range, needing two presses, or a 'key not detected' warning are the usual first symptoms.
Pry the case at the seam with a plastic trim tool rather than a screwdriver — a cracked housing costs far more than the battery.
Note the orientation of the old cell before removing it, and avoid touching the flat faces; skin oil shortens contact life.
If a fresh battery does not restore range, the problem is usually a cracked solder joint on the button pad or a failing receiver antenna, both of which we can diagnose.
