How Keys Are Made From a VIN
Every vehicle leaves the factory with a key code tied to its VIN. With proof of ownership, a locksmith can retrieve that code and cut a key without any original present.
The code translates into a specific sequence of cut depths and spacings, which the milling machine reproduces exactly.
Cutting the blade is only half the job — the electronic side still requires an immobilizer relearn through the diagnostic port, and some manufacturers enforce a security waiting period.
This is the process behind an all-keys-lost call, and it is why we always ask for the VIN on the phone.
